Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a light touch manual therapy that works with the
body’s self-correcting mechanism to affect multiple structural and physiological
systems in attaining greater health and well being. As the name implies, it
involves mobilizing restrictions within the cranium and the sacrum. However,
because of the anatomical and physiological connections, it is really a whole body
approach. It is practiced by various healthcare professionals including physical

Physical Therapy

One-on-one session consisting of evaluation, manual therapies, and/or Pilates based exercises. Session contents are based on individual needs and requests. Manual therapies can include: cranial sacral techniques, visceral mobilization, myofascial release, and or/internal pelvic floor treatment.


Pilates

One-on-one and Group Pilates sessions with traditional Balanced Body Pilates apparatus, including: reformer, springboard, tower, chair, and props. Session contents are based on individual needs and requests.

Denise Small received her doctorate in physical therapy from SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn NY in 2016. Her career as a physical therapist came after a successful career as a professional ballet dancer with the Kansas City Ballet, the Metropolitan Opera, and the New Chamber Ballet in New York City. While dancing, Denise used the Pilates method to improve her strength and stamina, keeping her injury free throughout her career. Denise became a fully certified Pilates instructor in 2005 through Balanced Body University and worked closely with Master Pilates Teacher Ellie Herman at her studio in Brooklyn, NY. After graduating from physical therapy school, Denise studied pelvic health with Amy Stein, author of “Heal Pelvic Pain” at Beyond Basics Physical Therapy in Manhattan, one of the founding practices in the field of pelvic health. Denise has since been practicing in the field for 8 years, and has bolstered her skills with cranial sacral therapy and visceral mobilization techniques, as well as post graduate studies in trauma informed care.
